FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION (OPTIVIN™) 1. What are
Anthocyanins? Anthocyanins
are natural substances that provide pigmentation (colour) to fruits and
vegetables, in particular berries, and serve as a powerful natural antioxidant.
A growing body of scientific evidence has shown that anthocyanin rich berries
possess numerous potential health benefits and protective effects 2. What is OPTIVIN™
? OPTIVIN™ is a multiple-berry
extract formulated and tested for optimum safety, bioavailability, antioxidant
and anti-angiogenic (the ability to reduce unwanted growth of blood vessels,
which may lead to varicose veins and tumor formation) activity. There is such a biological
diversity between fruits and vegetables and between humans as well that 20
individuals eating the same substance will each have a slightly different
reaction to the substance. For one person, eating strawberries may boost their
anti-oxidant levels for four hours; for another, its effect might last only 20
minutes. Obtaining a mixture of
anthocyanin nutrients as separate dietary supplements can also get costly and
cumbersome. By combining some of the most well researched berries into a highly
potent formulation, OPTIVIN™provides a broader spectrum of antioxidants than
any other individual berry extract. 3. Why do I need
OPTIVIN™ ? Over the last several decades,
scientists have discovered that the body's formation of unstable oxygen
molecules called free radicals is unavoidable--every cell produces tens of
thousands of them each day. When you have too few antioxidants to counteract
your free radicals, significant damage can occur, leading to a variety of
chronic degenerative diseases, ranging from stroke and fibromyalgia, to sinusitis,
arthritis, vision problems, and even Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. A
poor diet, cigarette smoking, environmental pollutants, and ultraviolet (UV)
radiation from the sun also increase the free-radical load, creating a
situation known as "oxidative stress." Luckily, the body does have a
defense system against these rogue "oxidant" compounds: antioxidants.
Found in numerous fruits and vegetables, and even produced naturally by the
human body, antioxidants literally "mop up" free radicals. As you age
you either have more free radicals or fewer antioxidants, or a combination of
these. So you need antioxidants to quench these free radicals. Antioxidants
appear to make cell membranes more fluid, which, among other things, eases the
flow of nutrients into and out of cells. 4. Is OPTIVIN™ a
proven formula and how does OPTIVIN™ work? Yes, OPTIVIN™ is developed under well-designed
research and is proven to possess anti-angiogenic properties. It is backed by
extensive scientific research for optimum safety and efficacy that has been
published in peer reviewed scientific journals*. 5. Is OPTIVIN™
safe? Numerous
tests and human trials have proven the safety of anthocyanins. Toxicology tests
showed no side effects even at levels many times that of the recommended adult
daily intake. Therefore, OPTIVIN™ is considered to be without significant
toxicity at dosage levels representing several times the intended human 6. Is OPTIVIN™ safe
for pregnant women? Yes. OPTIVIN™ is safe for
pregnant women. OPTIVIN™ contains anthocyanins extracted from natural berries
and it is free from pesticides or insecticides residues. It is a super
antioxidant which can help to scavenge the free radicals in the body and boost
up the immune system. In addition, OPTIVIN™ can help to support the blood sugar
and maintain urinary tract health in women. 7. How is OPTIVIN™
different? OPTIVIN™ is the result of
extensive scientific research, which evaluated key functional parameters,
including ORAC (antioxidant activity), VEGF (anti-angiogenic activity),
bioavailability and safety of numerous individual berry extracts. Based on
these findings, more than 20 combinations of individual berry extracts were
formulated and evaluated to determine the safest and most efficacious
combination. Of the combinations tested, one stood out above all others,
OPTIVIN™, a proprietary blend of multiple berry extracts, which demonstrated
superior safety, bioavailability, antioxidant and anti-angiogenic activity. 8. How does
OPTIVIN™ compare with other flavonoids? The positively charged oxygen
atom in an anthocyanin molecule makes it a more potent hydrogen-donating
antioxidant compared to oligomeric proanthocyanidins (Grape Seed Extract) and other
flavonoids. Because of the novel structure of anthocyanin molecule, it can
simultaneously neutralize several free radicals, while each molecule of
better-known antioxidants like vitamins C and E can handle only one at a time.
Anthocyanin's unique chemical structure also makes it several times more potent
than vitamin C. Several data by different researchers also confirm that an
anthocyanin molecule is 20 times more powerful than vitamin E. 9. Will OPTIVIN™
interact with other medications? OPTIVIN™ is extremely safe and virtually free from
side effects. It is safe to use during pregnancy and when breast-feeding. It
won't interfere with any medications you take. OPTIVIN™ chewable tablets
contain dextrose (derived from corn) commonly called glucose. Thus, diabetic
patients are advised to go with capsule. 10. How much
OPTIVIN™ should I take? The recommended adult daily
intake is 2 tablets, 1 tablet or capsule in the morning and one in the evening
with meals. The recommended children daily intake is 1 tablet or capsule.
OPTIVIN™ is available in easy-to-swallow “Halal” bovine capsules for maximum
assimilation and absorption and friendly chewable tablets. |
What
Experts Say “It's hard to go
wrong if you fortify your diet with colorful foods. Almost every one of
them is loaded with disease-proofing compounds. The
Color Code "Fruits and vegetables with
the deepest colors generally are most beneficial because they contain
high levels of antioxidants." Jean
Carpenter "Rats injected with cancer causing agents and then fed a berry-rich diet had 80 per cent fewer malignant tumours compared to those without berries in their diet." Gary
Stoner, Ph.D, Biologist In light of the increasing antibiotic resistance of many bacteria, the public health significance of the role of foods, such as cranberry, in preventing infections warrants further consideration. A lower number of infections means reduced use of antibiotics and lower potential risk of developing further bacterial antibiotic resistance."
